Starting autumn sowing

As Steve wanted to have some gardening activity in Autumn, I have included the sowing of:

  1. Garlic
  2. Onions
  3. Winter Spinach
  4. Winter Peas
  5. Broad Beans
This week in bed 1.
we plant 3 rows of onions. Each class planted a few.
We looked at the onion to find out what was the top and the bottom. Then showed them how to plant these Onion Sets.

The weather was great, so there was still need to do watering.
Made watering cans out of 4 pint milk bottles. made holes in the lids. That way the watering can is easier for the small ones to use, doesn't spill as much and is just enough for one child to water his or her area.

With the older class we put together bed 2.
This involved measuring out, using hammer, staples, pliers(for when it went wrong!) and string to feed through the staples. This was great team work. They also learned how to tie a tight knot.
